Deputy Technical Manager - Pressure Systems (Hybrid)

We are currently recruiting for a Pressure Systems Deputy Technical Manager to join our integrity team to support and oversee all aspects of onshore / offshore plant inspection activities.  In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the assets are maintained and inspected to the highest standards, complying with both industry regulations and company policies. You will be working closely with the Technical Manager to ensure the integrity, safety, and reliability of all plant equipment.

 

Key duties:

 

  • Conduct witness assessments of Inspection Engineers, this will involve some travel across onshore / offshore sites
  • Verify competency assessments completed by other assessors
  • Issue Letter of Authorities for Inspection Engineers
  • Support development and implementation of company policy and procedures
  • Assist with internal auditing to ensure company policy and procedures are being followed and compliance with industry standards
  • Assist with the delivery of UKAS witness and surveillance audits
  • Conduct detailed inspections of plant equipment when required (i.e. holiday cover and sickness) 
  • Write and approve Written Scheme of Examinations (WSoE)
  • Write and approve Inspection Reports
  • Support Risk Based Inspection assessments
  • Mentor junior inspection engineers and teams, ensuring high standards of safety and quality
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis when required
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies and best practices in inspection and asset integrity management

 

Role requirements:

 

Qualifications

 

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline (Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering may be considered)(E)
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards (Incorporated Engineer may be considered)(E)
  • API 510 / 570 / 653 (D)
  • ASME L1/L2 (D)
  • EEMUA 159 (D)
  • UKAS 17020 Internal Auditor Course (D)
  • Basic offshore safety induction and emergency training (D)

 

Experience / Skills

 

  • At least  5 years’ experience within the in-service inspection of pressure systems industry.
  • Inspection experience of both onshore and offshore sectors would be advantageous.
  • Experienced conducting thorough internal and external inspections of all plant equipment types (i.e. process pipework, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, distillation columns, pressure relief valves, fired equipment and storage tanks)
  • Experienced writing and approving Inspection Reports
  • Experienced writing and approving WSoEs
  • In-depth knowledge of industry regulation, codes and standards (i.e. PSSR, offshore installations, ASME, API, EEMUA and UKAS)
  • Strong understanding of fitness for service techniques, degradation, defect types, damage mechanisms and their severity
  • Experienced at developing and implementing company policy, standards and procedures
  • Strong understanding of asset integrity management and Risk Based Inspection (RBI) principles
  • Experienced conducting witness assessments of Inspection Engineers to determine their competency level
  • Experienced providing mentorship and development to junior, less experienced Inspection Engineers
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with an ability to communicate effectively
  • Excellent presentation skills
