Role Overview
The Workshop Focal Point is responsible for coordinating the flow of live jobs through the workshop’s specialist teams (Small Plant, Jetting, Compressors, Hose Bay and Electrical), ensuring equipment is prepared, certified and completed on time and to company and client standards.
The role oversees planning, compliance, quality control and cross-department communication to ensure efficient workshop operations and on-time dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Coordination
- Oversee and prioritise live jobs across all workshop teams.
- Allocate work effectively to meet deadlines and manage capacity.
- Monitor daily progress, resolving delays and bottlenecks.
- Ensure clear communication between workshop teams.
Compliance & Certification
- Ensure all plant and equipment certification is valid and compliant for the duration of hire.
- Verify inspection records, service documentation and client-specific requirements.
- Maintain quality control standards before equipment release.
Inspections & Documentation
- Book and coordinate third-party and client inspections.
- Prepare complete, inspection-ready document packs including certification, test records and client paperwork.
- Ensure accurate and organised job pack completion.
Cross-Department Liaison
- Work closely with the Hire Desk to align workshop capacity with hire demand and plant availability.
- Coordinate with Shipping & Logistics to hand over completed job packs and confirm equipment readiness for dispatch.
Health & Safety
- Ensure workshop activities comply with company health and safety standards.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure equipment leaves the workshop fully compliant.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience within a plant, tool or equipment hire environment.
- Strong knowledge of certification and compliance requirements.
- Experience supervising or coordinating teams.
- Excellent organisational, communication and prioritisation skills.
- High attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Technical knowledge of small plant, compressors, jetting, hoses or electrical equipment.
- Experience preparing equipment for third-party/client inspections.
- Familiarity with asset management or hire software systems.
