Job Description Training & Development Manager with Stork:

 

We are seeking a Training & Development Manager to join our Aberdeen office on a permanent basis. In this pivotal role, reporting directly to the HR Director, you will be instrumental in nurturing our most valuable asset—our people.

 

As the leader of a dedicated team of four, you will be responsible for shaping and driving the company's Training & Development strategy. You’ll oversee the implementation and management of training, competency, and Learning & Development processes across Stork UK, ensuring that the frameworks, systems, and tools needed to empower employee growth are in place and effective.

What will you be doing?

 

Learning & Development solutions

 

  • Develop proposal/options for development.
  • Select and source (potential) L&D solutions where required from both internal and external suppliers.
  • Design L&D interventions autonomously or work collaboratively with internal and external suppliers.
  • Coordinate delivery of L&D interventions and ensures learning is embedded through follow up.
  • Design evaluation criteria to constantly measure the success of learning interventions.
  • Interpret, analyse and present evaluation data to organisation.
  • Actively promote improvement in learning material design and delivery in line with evaluation feedback.

 

Training Management

 

  • Responsible for Storks Training Management Services.
  • Management of identified third party training management services provider.
  • Monitor training management performance (e.g. outstanding requests, completed bookings)
  • Liaise with key stakeholders for regular feedback on training performance.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving invoices associated with training provision.
  • Update monthly expiring certification reports.
  • Actively review training process for continual improvements

 

 Competency Assurance Management

 

  • Monitor completion of competency assurance assessments across Stork UK.
  • Support competency team to ensure operational projects achieve targets.
  • Actively review competency process for continual improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry initiatives (e.g. ECITB Connected Competence)
  • Ensure audits from clients, regulatory bodies, training boards and internal audits are managed effectively.

 

ECITB

 

  • Responsible for ensuring ECITB submissions are up to date.
  • Liaise with ECITB as main Stork focal point.
  • Ensure levy return is monitored on a monthly basis.
  • Attend ECITB Forums and meetings on behalf of Stork.
  • Support Competency team with implementation and management of ECITB Connected Competence.

 

 

Talent Development

 

  • Deliver tools and processes to manage the talent inside the Company (e.g. P&D, P&D Lite, Nine-Box and Succession Planning).
  • Identification of key positions to identify succession strategies.
  • Support HR and management with the identification of talent present in the company to ensure their inclusion in succession plans of key positions.
  • Consolidation of performance and competency results to identify talents.
  • Creation of talent matrices by position pool and by team to identify the concentration of talents and the retention strategies.

 

Early Careers

 

  • Creation of annual early careers strategy and plan. 
  • Responsible for Stork UK’s Graduate, Apprenticeship, Trainee and Intern Programmes.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders across the organisation to identify opportunities for early career roles. 
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of any early careers employee.
  • Liaise with training providers for setting up apprenticeships.
  • Responsible for setting up apprenticeship agreements through the digital levy account (England).
  • Monitor performance and progression of early career employees. 

 

Projects

 

  • Execute projects with regard to the design and implementation of L&D processes, policies, frameworks and instruments within Stork.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Expected:

 

  • Relevant Degree or CIPD qualified, preferably in L&D
  • Previous experience in an L&D or Talent role
  • Previous experience leading people
  • Project management skills, with ability to manage a variety of people systems
  • Ability to manage 3rd party providers and outsourced services
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organisation across multiple UK locations
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills with ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail with ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

 

Desirable:

 

  • Previous experience managing early career programmes from design to implementation
  • Knowledge of Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB)
