Job Description as a Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Apprentice with Stork (Harbour Energy):

 

The NDT Apprentice will be based offshore on one or more of our operators assets and will complete an apprenticeship which is aligned to EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Technical Support (Scotland based applicants) or Level 3 NDT Engineering Technician, Linked to BINDT (England based applicants).

  

The apprenticeship will take approximately 3 years and will result in the individual being qualified in industry-recognised NDT Level 2 certification in at least three inspection methods.

 

Further development opportunities will be supported for the Apprentice – this will include obtaining various associated industry qualifications/certification, where applicable including BOSIET, MIST and Rope Access.

 

NDT Apprentice Activities:

 

  • MPI – Magnetic Particle Inspection
  • DPI – Dye Penetrant Inspection
  • UT – Ultrasonic Testing
  • RAD - Radiography

 

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, candidates will be qualified to fulfil the role of NDT Inspection Technician, supporting in the overall delivery of the Group’s business objectives, by providing high standards of inspection execution to meet client requirements. Responsible for carrying out non-destructive examination works utilising the required techniques in accordance with relevant company and or client supplied procedures/ acceptance criteria.

Ideal Requirements for the Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Apprentice:

 

Education

 

  • A good level of education, for example; attainment of National 4 or above in English and Maths. Alternative qualifications may also be accepted.

 

 Experience

 

  • Awareness of oil and gas industry
  • Awareness in health and safety

 

Personal Qualities

 

  • Good communication, interpersonal, organisational skills, team player.
  • Ability to listen and follow instructions.
  • Must be prepared to spend time with team members developing their skills and expertise.
  • Take accountability of own development.
  • Computer literate.
  • Positive Attitude.
  • Use of initiative and have a proactive approach towards work task.
  • Attention to detail.

 

 Additional Requirements for the NDT Apprentice:

 

  • Must be minimum of 18 years of age due to site requirements

Location: Offshore
Hours: Regular rotation 2 weeks offshore/2 weeks onshore – 12hrs per shift. Additional training time may be required during leave period to ensure apprenticeship work is on track. It may be requested that you attend in person sessions as part of your apprenticeship.
